Wine enthusiasts, have we got a treat for you today!  Allow us to introduce to you ‘Spiral Stellars’, a company specializing in none other than spiral wine cellars.  What is a spiral cellar, you ask?  A spiral cellar is watertight, pre-cast cylindrical system that’s sunk into the ground, it can be located anywhere from kitchen to conservatory, workshop to study. It can be installed into an existing ground floor room, or incorporated into the build of an extension or new property. This custom wine cellar can keep up to 1,900 bottles in perfect storage conditions and since, like a traditional cellar, it relies on the surrounding earth for its insulation, plus an ingenious air-flow system, it requires no power to maintain its constant temperature. Once it’s paid for, that’s it – no more expenses except for the wine itself, of course!  Pricing information can be found here.

About Spiral Cellars

Spiral Cellar was developed by Frenchman Monsieur George Harnois.  In 1978, realizing that many modern homes had no proper cellar he designed the perfect solution. Since then over 10,000 cellars have been built in France and over 3,000  in the United Kingdom alone.

Do You Need A Wine Cellar?

Making the investment of building or buying a wine cellar depends on numerous factors, including but not limited to:

  • How much humidity is in your home – the ideal level is 70%
  • How soon you plan on drinking your wine – if your wine is a long-term investment, do not store it in places visible to the sun, or places that are hot and excessively humid
  • The temperature in your home - 70° F will work for most wines you intend on drinking in a short period of time, but for wines that are investments the ideal temperature is right above 50° F
